This is wonderfully put and I think everyone needs to read it. ‘Just words’ is such a dismissive response to say to any marginalized group; words mean things. Words don’t exist in a vacuum of your privilege. Words have real consequences in a real world that affect real people. When those real people are telling you how it affects them (especially when it’s something that doesn’t really affect you) it’s time to fucking listen.

Right now would be a good time to start.
